Assurance of Quality: Delving into LiveGood’s Certificates of Analysis
Last updated: February 2026
Knowing exactly what you’re getting is paramount in health and wellness. LiveGood, acknowledging this customer concern, offers Certificates of Analysis (CoA) for their products.
But what are CoAs, and why should they matter to a customer?

How to Use a Certificate of Analysis (COA) — Quick, Practical Checklist
A COA is most useful when you know exactly what you’re looking at. Below is the same simple checklist I use to sanity-check a supplement COA in under 2 minutes — even if you’re not “sciencey.”
- Match the product + lot number: The COA should clearly show the product name and a lot/batch number. Compare it to the lot number printed on your bottle. If the lot numbers don’t match, the COA may be for a different batch.
- Check the test date: COAs are batch-specific. A newer COA doesn’t automatically mean “better,” but it does show the brand is actively testing and publishing documentation.
- Look for identity + potency: For key ingredients, the COA should indicate what was tested and whether results are within specification (sometimes shown as “Pass”).
- Scan for contaminants (when included): Many COAs include screens for things like heavy metals and/or microbiology. If those panels exist, look for “Pass,” “Not Detected,” or results under the listed limits.
- Confirm the lab/testing details: A COA should identify who performed the testing (in-house or third party), and usually includes a lab name, location, or report reference.
What You’ll Commonly See on a COA (Plain-English)
| COA Field | What it means | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Product / Lot (Batch) | The specific production run being tested | Lot number matches your bottle |
| Specification | The acceptable range/limit for that test | Clear limits shown (not vague) |
| Result | The actual measured value | Result falls within the specification |
| Pass/Fail | Whether the result meets standards | “Pass” or equivalent language |
| Heavy Metals / Microbiology | Screens for contaminants (if included) | “Not Detected” or under limits |
| Method | How the lab tested the sample | A named method or standard approach |
Why COAs Matter (and what they don’t prove)
COAs are a strong transparency signal because they show testing details for a specific batch. They’re most helpful for verifying that a product is being measured against a standard and that basic quality checks are documented.
At the same time, a COA is not a guarantee that a supplement will work for every person. Results depend on your needs, diet, dose, and medical context. Use COAs as a trust layer — alongside label reading, dosage logic, and safety considerations.
Fast “Red Flags” When Reading Any COA
- No lot number (or it can’t be matched to the bottle)
- No test results (only marketing language)
- No lab/testing reference (unclear who ran the tests)
- Outdated documentation presented as if it covers all batches
- Missing contaminant panels for higher-risk product types (not always required, but worth noting)
If You’re New to Labels, Start Here
Before comparing any COA, it helps to understand the Supplement Facts panel and serving size logic. Use my guide here: How to read supplement labels and spot fairy-dusting.

Unpacking Certificates of Analysis:
A Certificate of Analysis is a document issued by a quality assurance laboratory. It verifies that a regulated product, such as the health and wellness offerings from LiveGood, adheres to its product specifications. A CoA contains the results from testing a single batch of a product, offering a glimpse into its composition and quality.

The Importance of CoAs:
When buying a health product, it’s vital to ensure its ingredients are safe, of high quality, and authentic. CoAs serve this very purpose. By delivering a meticulous analysis of each product batch, CoAs:
- Authenticate Quality: CoAs substantiate the product’s adherence to quality standards, affirming that LiveGood products consistently maintain a high level of quality.
- Confirm Composition: A CoA outlines all active and inactive components in the product, ensuring transparency regarding your consumption.
- Certify Safety: By testing for impurities and harmful substances, CoAs assure the product’s safety for use.
